Research Manager

Jie is from Korla, China and completed her Master’s degree at Dalhousie University. She joined Dr. Wong’s research team as a Research Assistant in 2019. Jie assists with research ethics applications, and data management, collection and analysis. She is also responsible for technique video-editing, publication submissions, coordination with trainees' research projects, and research and fellowship account management. Jie likes hiking, road tripping, doing hot yoga, playing fitness games, and spending time with her cats Lucky and Happy.

ALEKS BUDARICK

Research Manager

Aleks joined the Dalhousie Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine team in 2024. Aleks has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Kinesiology from Queen’s University, Master of Science (Sports Biomechanics) from McGill University, and PhD in Health from Dalhousie University. She has experience with research spanning the fields of biomechanics, orthopaedics, ergonomics, healthcare quality, and sport performance. As a Research Manager, she contributes to study design and conception, grant writing, study coordination, research ethics submission, data analysis, and manuscript writing and editing. Aleks enjoys hiking by the ocean, spending time on the water, and walking her dog.

FELICIA BICKFORD BUTLER

Physician Assistant

Felicia is from Salem, Massachusetts and joined the Dalhousie Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine team in 2025. Felicia completed an Associate of Arts in Dance at Dean College (‘08), as well as a Bachelor of Science in Medical Biology from the University of New England (‘11). After obtaining a Certificate of Orthopaedic Technology from NHTI (‘12), she went on to complete a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the MGH Institute of Health Professions (‘18). As the team’s first Physician Assistant, Felicia works with Dr. Wong to increase access to care for patients in our clinic and our ORs. Her responsibilities include assisting in surgery, assessing patients, ordering work ups such as labs and imaging, and developing and initiating care plans. Outside of work, Felicia enjoys hiking, paddling, dancing, reading fantasy books, and spending time with her family and her two dogs, Otis and Eloise.

 Research Coordinator 

Felicia is from Orangeville, Ontario and joined the Dalhousie Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine team in September 2023. Felicia graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Chemistry and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (’18) and a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Research (’23). She is currently enrolled in the Physician Assistant program at Dalhousie University. Felicia’s current role with the team involves prospective project planning, coordination, and data collection, retrospective project data collection, analysis, learner coordination and publication, and research ethics submissions. Felicia enjoys hiking with her dog Phantom, playing rugby, paddle boarding, and spending time with friends and family.

Research Coordinator

Sarah is from Ajax, Ontario and joined the team at Dalhousie Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine in March 2021. Sarah graduated from the University of Waterloo with Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Kinesiology ('18) and a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Biomechanics ('21). Sarah is currently pursuing a PhD in Health at Dalhousie University ('26) where she will explore the biomechanics of rotator cuff tears.  Sarah's current role with the team involves prospective project coordination and management, writing grant applications, research ethics submission, surgical video editing, and virtual surgical education development. Sarah enjoys hiking with her dog Stanley, golfing, and reading a good book.

JHANOS ROLLE

 Research Coordinator

Jhanos is from Nassau, Bahamas and joined the team as a Research Student in 2023. Jhanos graduated from both Acadia University and Dalhousie University with a Bachelor's in Applied Science ('21) and Industrial Engineering ('24), respectively. In his role, Jhanos assists with the management of research databases as well as improving upon internal and technological processes within the team. He also works on the 3D printing and reconstruction for study purposes. Jhanos enjoys playing basketball, hitting the gym and watching a good movie.

 Research Coordinator

Originally from Chengdu, Sichuan, China, Jiaxin joined the Dalhousie Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine team in September 2024. She holds a BSc Honours in Kinesiology and an MSc in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University, where her graduate research focused on shoulder biomechanics. In her current role, Jiaxin contributes to a variety of research activities, including data collection and analysis, learner coordination, manuscript preparation, and research ethics submissions. She is especially passionate about applying diverse analytical models, streamlining data analysis processes, and exploring innovative approaches in research. Outside of work, Jiaxin enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with friends and family, hiking, trying out new recipes, and discovering cozy coffee spots around the city.

 Research Coordinator

Laura is from Halifax, Nova Scotia and joined the research team in 2026. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Neuroscience (‘22) and a Master of Science in Medical Neuroscience (‘25) from Dalhousie University. In her role, Laura manages prospective project coordination, research participant management, clinical data collection, and in-clinic assistance. She also plays a key role in supporting study operations, including managing surgical video libraries and handling ethics submissions. Her current research focuses on clinical trials and prospective observational studies that aim to optimize orthopaedic surgical interventions and improve patient outcomes for hip, shoulder, and knee pathologies. Outside of the office, Laura enjoys pilates, fitness classes, playing soccer, skiing, travelling, and spending time with friends and family.

Research Assistant

Isaac is from Lower Argyle, Nova Scotia, and joined the Dalhousie Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine team in September, 2024. Isaac graduated from The University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Kinesiology (‘21), and a Master of Science in Kinesiology (‘23) while also competing as a dual-sport varsity athlete. After graduating, Isaac instructed Functional Human Anatomy at the University of New Brunswick before pursuing full-time research with the team. Isaac’s current role involves prospective project planning, coordination, and data collection. Isaac enjoys running, golfing, and playing basketball.

Digital Marketing Coordinator

Hannah is from Brampton, Ontario and joined the Dalhousie Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine team in 2025. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology, along with undergraduate certificates in Biopsychology and Foundations of Health, at Mount Allison University (’23), where she also competed as a varsity athlete on the Mounties Women’s Soccer Team. She graduated from Laurentian University (‘25) with a Master of Science Communication. In her current role, Hannah is a science communicator supporting projects for non-specialist audiences. She translates complex orthopaedic research into accessible formats, manages the team’s branding across digital platforms, and contributes to educational outreach initiatives. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys spending time with her cats, Buffy and Dracula, exploring Halifax’s best restaurants, and playing on her iPad.

 Research Assistant

Noah is from Halifax, Nova Scotia and joined the team as a Research Student in 2022. He has remained with the team since 2022, working part-time during his studies and full-time during the summers. He has just graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology at McGill University ('26). In his role, Noah assists with creating promotional material, working on retrospective research projects, creating and updating study spreadsheets, managing surgical videos, and assisting in the clinic. Noah enjoys surfing, travelling, and spending time with his golden retriever Berkeley.

 Research Assistant

Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Sienna began working with the team as a Research Student in May 2025. She recently completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University, graduating in June 2026. In her role as a Research Assistant, Sienna assists with diverse clinical research projects by organizing and extracting data, coordinating databases, participating in clinical data gathering, and managing daily research operations. Her primary research interests lie in shoulder instability and rotator cuff pathology. When not at work, Sienna loves to run, explore the outdoors, and spend time with her golden retrievers.

 Research Student

Eloise is from Toronto, Ontario and joined the research team as a Research Student and Administrative Assistant in January 2026. She recently graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Sciences (‘26). Within the team, Eloise works on research coordination and clinical administration, through assisting with ongoing clinical research measurements, extracting patient data, and coordinating research projects with learners. Her research work focuses on supporting retrospective surgical outcome studies, creating 3D reconstructions, and streamlining our data collection processes. She is especially interested in Arthroscopic Anatomic Glenoid Reconstructions (AAGR), and how various factors impact surgical outcomes. Outside of work, Eloise enjoys skiing, hiking, surfing, travelling, and baking.

Ewan is from West Hartford, Connecticut and joined the team as a Research Student in May 2026. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry at Dalhousie University (‘27). In his role, Ewan supports the team through the creation of promotional and educational materials, workflow optimization, and administrative updates. He is also actively involved in research, working on retrospective data management, preparing patient scans for AI models, and updating patient outcomes. Outside of his research, Ewan enjoys listening to music, working out, spending time outdoors, baking, and crocheting.

FANNIE FOURON

 Research Student

Fannie is from Port-au-Prince, Haiti and joined the team as a Research Student in March 2026. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Statistics at Dalhousie University (‘27). In her role, Fannie assists with multiple administrative tasks, coordinates elective and observership requests, and supports resident rotation logistics. She also helps the team through collecting and analyzing social media data, and conducts statistical analysis for various research projects. Outside of work, she enjoys acrylic and oil painting, exploring different cuisines, and going to the gym.
